There is an amazing body and volume in his light and polished voice, and it is even right through the entire register and to boot, contains a both beautiful and exciting colour."

"In the concert’s second half, conducted by David Angus, Joseph Calleja immediately conquered the entire audience with his rendition of Verdi’s "La donna è mobile" from the opera “Rigoletto”. There is an amazing body and volume in his light and polished voice, and it is even right through the entire register and to boot, contains a both beautiful and exciting colour. Exceptional was also Puccini’s "Che gelida manina" in which Calleja’s warm and rich voice with its exceptional top notes, not only warmed Mimi’s hand, but had the entire 3,100 strong audience firmly in the palm of his hand."
